This is how it looks like in perspective view.
Select the two bottom curves and press join. |
We will scale this curve using scale2D.
As start point, choose a point +- in the middle of the curve, using grid snap to snap to the X-axis.
Turn on "copy=yes" (like we did with the rotate command)
The second click should also be on the X-axis, to the right and outside of the curve.
Then by dragging you will see the curve getting smaller. Drag until your curve looks something like the red one in the image. |

Now we will draw two lines which will be used as cross sections in a 2 rail sweep.
Draw a line with end and int snap turned on. You can do this in perspective view. Click on the point as in the image: |

Do exactly the same on the other side so you'll have this.
It's very important to use the object snaps!!! |
Now go to 'surface---sweep 2 rails'. You need to select the rail curves: select the scaled curve and the edge of our surface. Then you need to select the cross section curves: select the two small straight lines we just created in the previous steps. Press enter.
A dialog box will pop up with some options. Check the 'closed sweep' option and press ok. The sweep will be created. |
In right view it looks like this:
I find this a bit too sharp. |
I pressed undo several times to get back to the point before I did the sweep two rails.
Turn on control points for the two straight lines and select the bottom points and the bottom curve and move them all a bit lower in front view.
Now you need to do the two rail sweep again. |
This is the result:
Select the sweep surface and the top surface and press the join button. |
